Mayara Pereira Neves Postdoctoral Researcher Department of Biosciences, Rice University
Passionate about Ecology and Zoology, I'm a fish biologist interested in functional morphology. Fish have huge morphological diversity, and I'm interested in investigating how morphological traits evolve and how they relate to diet and habitat use. In addition, I research how these traits can affect the species' coexistence.
I grew up in Southern Brazil, not that far from the amazing Iguaçu Falls. I have obtained my Ph.D. from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, in November 2020. During my PhD, I was a visiting researcher at Queen Mary University of London (UK) . I have also worked as a Temporary Professor at Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste (Brazil). In October 2022, I joined the Evans Lab (BioSciences) at the Rice University (Houston, TX, US) as Postdoctoral Researcher.
